How to tell if PhotoSpring is receiving power and charging
When plugged into power, PhotoSpring will show a battery icon with lightning bolt after receiving power - unless it is complete out of battery. The power icon looks like what you see here in the middle of the screen:
When PhotoSpring is not receiving power, it will be in battery mode. And you should see a battery icon showing the current charge level of the battery.
Charging issues can be investigated in the following manner:
- Check the outlet you are using is working
- To do this, connect another device to it - like a light. If the light comes on, then the power outlet is working and you can go onto the next step.
- Check that the AC Adapter is working.
- To do this, plug the AC Adapter into a working power outlet. Plug the cable end of the AC Adapter directly into your PhotoSpring. Note: if your frame uses a stand, bypass the stand for now. The AC power port on the frame is on the bottom edge of the device where the charging stand meets the frame.
- If it shows a charge icon, both the Adapter and PhotoSpring can take power. If your frame uses a stand move on to Step 3. If your frame doesn't use a stand then go to Step 4.
- If you see the charging icon then followed by a battery icon, then the battery is probably bad. Please contact us with issue BATT200 to make arrangements.
- If it doesn't show a charge icon either the battery is fully discharged, the AC Adapter is not working or the frame is not working properly.
- In any case please let it stay plugged in this way for a few hours to see if it will charge. When you come back press the power button for 10-12 seconds and see if the frame powers up. If this doesn't work, then wait about 15 seconds and then press power again for up to 30 seconds. If this doesn't work, please contact us to arrange a replacement. Mention issue NP200 when you contact us.

- Check that the charging base is working
- To do this:
- Plug the AC Adapter into a working power outlet.
- Plug the cable end of the AC Adapter into the charging base.
- Then seat your PhotoSpring, in Landscape orientation, into the charging base.
- If seated correctly into the charging base then you should see the charging icon come on. If you don't see this try moving the frame around to reseat it.
- If this doesn't work, then try to seat your PhotoSpring, in Portrait orientation, into the charging base. If PhotoSpring doesn't charge then contact us for new charging base. Please mention issue BASE100 when you contact us.
- If if placing the frame on the base in Landscape works but not Portrait please contact us with issue CONTACT100
- If if placing the frame on the base in Portrait works but not Landscape please contact us with issue CONTACT100
- Note: PhotoSpring devices with imperfect contacts to a charging base will often see the device toggle between outlet power and battery power icons - one right after the other. If you have one of these, then contact us to get this fixed.
- To do this:
- Power the frame up
- If you get the charging icon or battery icon on screen it means your frame is receiving power from the AC adapter. To turn the frame on press power for 10 seconds. If the icon comes on while you do this, stop pressing power and wait for the icon to disappear. Then press power again for 10 seconds to turn the frame on.
