The following guide is for PhotoSpring Premium Portable Frames. Check the back of your frame. If it has a serial number that starts with 04 then these instructions work for your frame.
The PhotoSpring Premium Portable 10in digital photo frame includes a battery than is user replaceable. The battery can be replaced with the extended battery which lasts for up to 5hrs (vs the 3hr battery that comes with the frame).
Below are the steps to replace the battery.
Step 1 - Gather your tools and materials
Gather tools you will need.
- The PhotoSpring Premium Portable 10in frame
- A replacement battery available for purchase on our website
- A towel you can use to protect the screen.
- A ruler, putty knife or thin spatula you can use to pry off the existing battery
- Optional - a needle nose plier
Step 2 - Open the Battery Compartment
Place the frame facedown on the towel. The towel is used to protect the frame and table from being scratched.
Important: Make sure you:
- Unplug the frame from AC power
- Turn off the frame. There should be no light appearing near the power button
Next, locate the battery compartment which is shown in red below.
Two latches hold the battery compartment lid in place. Release the latches by pressing them towards the direction of the arrows shown above.
Here's a closer look at how the latch can be pressed using your thumb:
Step 3 - Disconnected the Battery
Remove the battery compartment lid and locate where the battery wire attaches to the frame. We want to remove the connector from the frame.
You can use your index finger and thumb to slowly pulling the connector loose. You may need to wiggle it as you pull.
Do not pull by the wire. This may cause the wire to come loose. Instead grab the white connector.
Step 4 - Remove the Battery
The battery is taped to the frame using a strong double sided tape. It is very secure. To remove the battery place a ruler between the battery and the frame. Push against the ruler to wedge the battery out. Try not to push down on the ruler to use it like a lever with fixed fulcrum. Instead just push the ruler gently.
You may also use a putty knife or thin spatula to do this.
Step 5 - Attach the New Battery
Use the reverse steps to connect the new battery securely to the frame.
