This guide will go through the basic features of PhotoSpring.
For a more detailed and complete picture of what PhotoSpring can do, you can read the more detailed PhotoSpring guide here.
Basic Screen
There are three basic screens that most users will use most of the time
This screen displays photos and videos in a slideshow. Each photo is displayed for a set interval before moving on to the next photo. To see when the next photo will be displayed there is a white line that moves from right to left on the bottom of the screen. When the white line spans from left to right the next photo will appear. You can also do the following on the Slideshow screen:

|
This screen shows photos and videos along with information like when or where it was taken. It also has various functions associated with managing photos and the slideshow.
|
|
This screen displays thumbnails of photos and videos in the current playlist. A playlist specifies which photos and/or videos to display in the slideshow. From this screen you can filter the playlist, start at a specific item in the playlist, or sort the playlist.

Filtering Photos
Let's try filtering some photos. Filters help you view just the photos you want. As you filter, the photos you see displayed in the Playlist are the ones you will see when you start the slideshow.
To start, go to the Playlist Screen (see navigation above to get to the Playlist screen). In the Playlist Screen you will see filter buttons in the upper left corner.
Tapping any of these buttons toggles the filter associated with the button. The list of filters is below. Try each of them out individually to see how they work.
Photo Filter Button - Tap to include/exclude photos from the playlist
Video Filter Button - Tap to include/exclude videos from the playlist
Favorite Filter Button - Tap to exclude items not marked as favorite. |
|
Faces Filter Button - Tap to exclude photos that do not have faces of people in them.
Auto Filter Button - Tap to exclude photos that that are not marked as Auto. PhotoSpring analyzes each photo and marks photos it things you want to see as Auto. |
As you tap the filter buttons you will notice a slight delay as PhotoSpring takes photos out of the playlist. As you add/remove filters, the number of photos in the playlist changes. PhotoSpring displays the number of items in the current filtered view against the total number of items. In the example below the playlist is displaying 24 items out of a possible 345 total items.
