PhotoSpring devices with serial numbers starting with 03 or 04 (models PSF-101 or PSG-101) have an SD Card slot and USB Drive slot which you can use to import photos and videos from an SD cards and USB Drives.
In the description below we will use the term drive to describe both USB Drives and SD Cards.
The SD card or USB Drive should have the following characteristics:
- It should be formatted using Fat32 - which is standard for drives 32gb or less. If you have reformatted the drive using ExFat or APFS (Apple) formats thedrive will not work on your frame.
- While there isn't a limit to the drive size, since frames only take Fat32, this means cards/drives over 32gb have a lower chance of working on PhotoSpring frames. Therefore, larger drives may work but they are not recommended.
If you insert a drive into the slot and nothing happens here's what you can do:
- It may take up to 2min for a drive to be detected sometimes. If after 2min you don't get any response then continue to the next step.
- Tap the Menu button in the upper right corner of the frame. A menu will appear. Select the SD&USB Import menu item. This opens up the SD/USB Import screen. See if the SD or USB drive is now detected. If not, continue to the next step.
- With the SD/USB screen open on your frame, remove your drive from the slot and reinsert it.
- Check that the status of the SD or USB drive becomes active - it should change from None to Scanning.
- If the above doesn't work, then turn the frame off. Remove any SD/USB from the slots. Turn the frame back on, open the SD&USB Import screen again and then reinsert.
- Finally, as a last resort please try using a different SD or USB drive. The one you have may not be compatible.
Important: Please remember to eject your SD Card or USB Card first before removing it! The eject button will appear at the bottom of the import screen whenever the import is finished or aborted. If your SD or USB card isn't detected then it is safe to remove it.
